Aromatic Suppositories and Pessaries can bring local and systemic relief for a variety of wellness goals. With dual training in both clinical aromatherapy and aromatic medicine I bring a unique skill set to the blending bench when I am formulating suppositories. I follow Galenic Formulation protocols to prepare vaginal and rectal dose forms of aromatics that account for the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of the active ingredients for a safe and effective dose based on the individual I am formulating for. This dose form is available by appointment and can be formulated for children, adults, pregnant, and breastfeeding clients.

Pessaries

Vaginal pessaries deliver a calibrated dose of essential oils and botanicals to the vagina, cervix, and nearby urethra and ureters. This dose form can be used to hydrate and heal the tissues in the vagina – an ideal solution for menopausal vaginal dryness, postpartum vaginal healing, and postsurgical vaginal healing.

Pessaries are also used in cases of vaginal infections and bladder infections. Antifungal aromatics are used in a pessary blend for candida or vaginal thrush. Antiviral aromatics are used in a pessary blend for sexually transmitted infections (STIs/STDs). Antibacterial aromatics are used in a pessary blend for urinary tract infections (UTIs), and bacterial vaginosis. Anti-inflammatory aromatics are used in all pessary blends and especially in cases like allergy-induced vaginitis, and vulvitis.

Suppositories

Suppositories can be used for local inflammation of the lower bowel and rectum, like in the case of fissures and hemorrhoids. Soothing analgesic and anti-inflammatory aromatics are used in a suppository blend to bring local relief.

Rectal suppositories are also used as a delivery method of getting aromatics into the blood stream. This dose form may be used in a treatment plan for lower respiratory infections (lung infections), Lyme disease, gastrointestinal infections, autoimmune conditions, and pain conditions (Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, neurogenic pain).
