SUMMARY:Introduction to Hand Reflexology
DESCRIPTION:Hand Reflexology Practicum 2022 \nHands heal\, and in the case of Reflexology\, we can access the entire body as it is resembled on a micro map found on the hands. There are 27 bones in the hands\, combined with their muscles\, we grasp\, grip\, hold\, carry\, and communicate our way through life. \nHand Reflexology is especially useful for making contact with the reflexology areas that correspond to the head and neck region of the body. This makes it a good choice for: \n\nEasing tension headaches and tight jaws\nRelieving sinus congestion\nSupporting the eyes to rest\nRecovering after dental procedures\nSoothing the irritation of tinnitus\nCalming a busy mind\nPreparing for test taking\nComforting a client or friend\n\nWhat makes the reflex maps of the hands similar and dissimilar to the maps found on the feet? Are the reflexology techniques similar or very different? Find out in this one-day workshop where we’ll also touch on the anatomy and physiology of the hands\, and reflex identification on a map. \nWorkshop Details: \n\nDate and Time: Sunday\, October 5th\, 9am to 5pm\, bring a sack lunch\nLocation: The Barefoot Dragonfly LLC\, 7601 Pheasant Rock Road\, Austin\, TX\nDuration: 8 hours\nCost: $85.00\nMaterials Provided: Equipment (recliners and bodywork table)\, instructional handouts\nWhat to Bring: A notebook and pen/pencil\n\nRegister Now to secure your spot\, space is limited to eight (8) participants: https://l.bttr.to/Jsyp1 \nPlease note: due to small class size\, cancellations must be given seven (7) days in advance to receive a refund. In the event of class cancellation all participants will receive a full refund within fourteen (14) days of cancellation. \nAmy Kreydin has been practicing hand Reflexology since June 2004 in both private practice as well as clinical settings including intensive care units\, labor and delivery\, and in psychiatric and rehab facilities. Amy started teaching Reflexology continuing education in 2006\, and began formally teaching a 300 hour reflexology program in 2014. \nThis class is open to anyone interested in working on the hands — be it those of your loved ones and friends\, in a massage or bodywork practice\, to enhance physiotherapy or occupational therapy\, or those simply curious about Reflexology! SUMMARY:Autumn Equinox Apothecary Session
DESCRIPTION:Fall is all about celebrating the harvest\, storing up the goodness from the sunshine summer days\, releasing physical and emotional baggage\, and bringing a sense of balance to our inner and outer worlds. In this Apothecary Session we’ll look to caring for our Lungs\, Large Intestine\, Skin\, and the Chinese element of Metal. \n  \nWhat You’ll Learn: \n\nLiving with the season: On the autumnal equinox\, occurring September 22nd this year\, day and night are equal in length everywhere on the planet. The sun rises precisely in the east\, arcs through the sky for 12 hours\, and sets exactly in the west\, giving us 12 hours of darkness. This is the start of a 6-month period when yin and darkness expand\, peaking at the winter solstice in December\, and then contracting until they equalize once again at the spring equinox.\nOxymels: Food as medicine\, in which we combine honey\, apple cider vinegar\, and herbs to make oxymels. These tangy\, sweet concoctions are known for their medicinal benefits and versatile uses in cooking and wellness routines.\nAromastick: Personal aromatherapy inhalers are designed to bring aromatic plant extracts right to the nose\, and occasionally the mouth\, in an accessible way. About the size of a chapstick container\, they’re very portable\, and discrete to use.\n\nBody oil: Nourish the skin after a summer of intense heat and ultraviolet light exposure with a bespoke body oil. The skin is the largest organ of the body\, it protects\, regulates temperature\, defends against pathogens\, as well as expressing mood and personality.\nBotanicals: Gain insights into some of my favorite plants for this season\, such as — eucalyptus to deepen the breath\, ginger to warm the digestive tract\, bacopa to aid in brain function as we sort memories\, and native jojoba to protect and nourish the skin.\nHands-On Creation: You’ll have the opportunity to select from a variety of ingredients\, crafting blends that suit your personal tastes and needs. Together we’ll create an oxymel\, aromastick\, and body oil.\n\nWorkshop Details: \n\nDate and Time: Monday\, September 22nd\, 9am to 12pm noon\nLocation: The Barefoot Dragonfly LLC\, 7601 Pheasant Rock Road\, Austin\, TX\nDuration: 3 hours\nCost: $65.00\nMaterials Provided: All ingredients\, jars\, labels\, and instructional handouts\nWhat to Bring: A notebook if you’d like to jot down notes or additional recipes\n\nJoin us for this engaging and educational session\, and leave with a newfound appreciation for the ancient craft of herbal preparations\, along with your own handcrafted products. \nRegister Now to secure your spot\, space is limited to eight (8) participants: https://l.bttr.to/9V0G2 \nPlease note: due to small class size\, cancellations must be given seven (7) days in advance to receive a refund. In the event of class cancellation all participants will receive a full refund within fourteen (14) days of cancellation. \n\n  \nMedicine Making and Food Handling: \nThis session involves handling and preparing ingredients the community will be consuming. We will be practicing hygiene\, surface disinfection\, equipment sanitization\, and clean air practices together (UVC sterilizing lights and HEPA filters will be in use). The following PPE will be made available for all participants but you are always welcome to bring your own: \n\n🖐️ Nitrile and vinyl gloves in medium adult size\n👩‍🍳 Smocks and aprons as well as a selection of caps\, hair nets\, and hair bands\n🦠 EPA-registered disinfectants including thymol plant-based\, and vinegar-salt-water based hypochlorous acid\n\nThanks for helping make this a fun and safe activity for all!

SUMMARY:Intermediate Reflexology Course - Level Two
DESCRIPTION:Anatomy\, Physiology\, and Pathology for the Reflexology Practitioner\n\nThe Intermediate Reflexology course includes two learning units – 201 and 202 – with 24 hours of lecture and 24 hours of practicum in each unit. Coursework is aimed at exploring body systems through a whole-person lens and practicums are designed to help us apply our theoretical understandings of these systems on the reflex maps of the feet. \nWhen: Wednesday\, October 30th\, 2024 through Saturday\, February 15th\, 2025\nWhere: Online and in the Austin\, Texas studio\nRegister: Registration is $1\,200 through the Student Portal\nPrerequisite: Foundations in Reflexology or equivalent 48 hour coursework \n201 Body through Respiratory Systems – 48 hours\nThis unit has six lectures covering the following topics: \n\nThe Body – Anatomy and physiology begins with an understanding of the human body in terms that are relatable and easy to understand.\nThe Skeletal System – Bones are the framework of our body house – offering support\, protection\, shape\, and movement\, as well as mineral homeostasis.\nThe Muscular System – Muscles create movement for the bones and joints of the body as well as internal organs like the digestive tract.\nThe Nervous System – The nervous system picks up on what’s happening inside and outside the body and integrates this information to form a response.\nThe Endocrine System – The chemical messaging system of the body regulates many functions ranging from how deep tonight’s sleep will be to how tall you grew.\nThe Respiratory System – Respiration is the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide through inhalation and exhalation.\n\nThese lectures are delivered live via Zoom and are recorded for participants who cannot attend the live lesson. \nZoom lectures are scheduled as follows (all times in Central Time Zone): \n\nWednesday\, October 30th\, 8am-12pm\nTuesday\, November 5th\, 8am-12pm\nTuesday\, November 12th\, 8am-12pm\nTuesday\, November 19th\, 8am-12pm\nTuesday\, November 26th\, 8am-12pm\nTuesday\, December 3rd\, 8am-12pm\n\nFollowing the Zoom lectures are three days of in-person practicum offered in the Austin\, Texas studio. Practicum dates are scheduled as follows (all times in Central Time Zone): \n\nThursday\, December 5th\, 9am-5pm\nFriday\, December 6th\, 9am-5pm\nSaturday\, December 7th\, 9am-5pm\n\nDay One:\n\nObserving the Feet – partnering with a classmate\, we’ll explore skin hydration and tone and general nail health\, then review the body systems reflected on the feet;\nSOAP Notes – partnering with a classmate\, we’ll practice documenting our observations;\nNervous System Practice – partnering with a classmate\, we’ll practice a routine for the central and peripheral nervous system reflexes.\n\nDay Two:\n\nGait Analysis – we’ll review gait analysis and practice observing classmate’s gaits for stress cues;\nReflex Location – we’ll put our theoretical lessons into practice by mapping out the musculoskeletal\, endocrine\, and and respiratory system reflexes on a classmate’s foot;\nMusculoskeletal & Respiratory System Practice – partnering with a classmate\, we’ll practice a protocol for the musculoskeletal & respiratory system reflexes.\n\nDay Three:\n\nEndocrine System Routine – partnering with a classmate\, we’ll practice working the endocrine system simultaneously on both feet;\nForty Minute Foot Routine – we’ll pull together our new techniques and create a ~40 minute enhanced foot reflexology treatment with classmates;\nAreas of Emphasis – armed with a ~40 minute enhanced routine we’ll dip our toes into session planning skills to hone in on areas that need a bit more attention than others.\n\nBy the end of Unit 201 we’ll have a roughly forty minute foot reflexology routine that can easily be expanded to a full hour. \n202 Cardiovascular through Special Senses Systems – 48 hours\nTopics for each lecture are as follows: \n\nThe Cardiovascular System – A 6\,000+ mile network of vessels transports nutrients\, oxygen\, hormones\, and waste products like carbon dioxide and cellular waste around the body.\nThe Lymphatic and Immune System – The lymphatic and immune system is part of our body’s built in maintenance that transports fats and fat-soluble vitamins as well as providing a surveillance and defense mechanism against pathogens.\nThe Digestive System – The digestive system is designed to break down food into usable macro and micro nutrients in order to provide fuel for every cell in the body.\nThe Urinary System – Our built-in water treatment facility\, the Urinary System filters the blood and controls pH\, volume\, composition\, and pressure.\nThe Reproductive System – The reproductive system is unique in that it doesn’t come online until puberty and maintains function until midlife when menopause/manopause bring a decline or halt to proliferative processes in the gonads.\nThe Integumentary System and Special Senses – The skin is the largest organ of the body and is the organ of touch. We’ll also cover sight\, sound\, taste\, and smell.\n\nThese lectures are delivered live via Zoom and are recorded for participants who cannot make the live lesson. \nZoom lectures are scheduled as follows (all times in Central Time Zone): \n\nTuesday\, December 10th\, 8am-12pm\nTuesday\, December 17th\, 8am-12pm\nTuesday\, January 7th\, 8am-12pm\nTuesday\, January 14th\, 8am-12pm\nTuesday\, January 21st\, 8am-12pm\nTuesday\, January 28th\, 8am-12pm\n\nFollowing the Zoom lectures are three days of in-person practicum offered in the Austin\, Texas studio. \nPracticum dates are schedules as follows (all times in Central Time Zone): \n\nThursday\, February 13th\, 9am-5pm\nFriday\, February 14th\, 9am-5pm\nSaturday\, February 15th\, 9am-5pm\n\nThey include: \nDay One:\n\nObserving the Feet – partnering with a classmate\, we’ll explore new the new body systems we covered over lecture;\nSOAP Notes – partnering with a classmate\, we’ll practice documenting our observations;\nCardiovascular Routine – we’ll add to our existing chest region protocols to specifically target reflex locations for cardiovascular system;\nLymphatics – we’ll take some basic measurements of the feet then commence with a lymphatic routine and see if we notice changes in our classmate’s measurements;\nDigestive System Routine – this routine follows the natural flow of food from the mouth to the anus\, with accessory digestive organs;\n\nDay Two:\n\nUrinary System Routine – this routine helps the body remove liquid waste via the urinary bladder;\nReproductive System Routine – further enhancing our work from 201’s practicum routine for the endocrine system we’ll practice positioning for prenatal clients too.\n\nDay Three:\n\nSixty Minute Foot Routine – we’ll pull together our new techniques and create a ~60 minute complete foot reflexology treatment with classmates;\nAreas of Emphasis – armed with a ~60 minute complete routine we’ll practice incorporating areas of emphasis.\n\nSnack and lunch breaks are taken outdoors in the carport\, no food or drink is permitted in the studio. SUMMARY:Reflexology & Essential Oils for Anxiety and Depression - LONDON
DESCRIPTION:Enhance your therapeutic toolkit with a hands-on workshop bringing together the powerful practices of reflexology and aromatherapy to help manage anxiety and depression. Anxiety disorders affect over 8 million people in the UK (Mental Health UK)\, and about 280 million people worldwide struggle with depression (WHO). The need for effective\, whole-person treatment approaches has never been greater. \nWhen combining reflexology and essential oil therapy\, we amplify the benefits of each modality\, providing a deeply powerful and comprehensive approach to supporting our clients. Direct inhalation of essential oils quickly transmits these chemical messengers from the olfactory bulb to the regions of the brain that play a key role in emotional responses\, learning\, memory\, and social interaction (Arisi et al 2012). Reflexology’s targeted pressure techniques send waves of relaxation and comfort throughout the nervous system. Together\, these therapies create a synergistic effect\, offering greater relief and support than when used individually. \nIn this supportive workshop\, you’ll gain advanced skills and knowledge to support your clients’ mental health and emotional well-being. Through detailed instruction and hands-on training\, you’ll learn how to effectively combine these modalities in your professional practice\, making a real difference in the lives of those you care for. \nWho should attend?\n\nReflexologists\, and massage therapists seeking to expand their skill set and confidence in holistic mental health.\nMental health professionals looking to integrate somatic therapies into their practice.\nPhytotherapy practitioners wanting to enhance care plans with pressure point techniques and fast-acting aromatics.\n\n Learning Outcomes\nBy the end of this workshop\, participants will be able to: \n\nIdentify the common symptoms and causes of anxiety and depression.\nRecognize the physiological and psychological effects of mood disorders on the body and mind.\nExplain the physiological effects of reflexology and essential oil therapy.\nCreate a personalized treatment plan using reflexology and aromatherapy to address specific symptoms of anxiety and/or depression.\nFormulate a bespoke personal inhaler based on the treatment plan.\nEducate clients on the benefits of combined reflexology and essential oils for mental wellness.\nProvide self-care recommendations for clients to use at home.\nEnsure safety through identification of contraindications and safety precautions when working with concentrated plant aromatics.\n\nAbout Amy\nAmy Kreydin\, Board Certified Reflexologist and Clinical Aromatherapist\, has been in private practice since 2004. Kreydin received her certificate as a Certified Reflexologist from the Palmer Institute in Salem\, MA in 2004\, and was awarded her board certificate in Reflexology from the American Reflexology Certification Board in 2006. She trained at a Harvard teaching hospital in Boston\, MA and obtained her Certified Clinical Aromatherapy Practitioner (CCAP) in 2011. In 2016 she completed her advanced diploma in Aromatic Medicine. Since 2022 Amy has run a weekly group in a psychiatric and behavioral hospital working with a range of mood disorders and ages\, in her ‘aromatherapy group’ patients use a combination of self-care reflexology techniques and direct inhalation of essential oils. Kreydin is passionate about whole body wellness and loves helping folks reach their wellness goals to live an abundant\, vibrant\, and balanced life. \nCourse Cost:\n$100.00 deposit with balance of £260.00 due on the day.

SUMMARY:Guest Speaker - Chantel Lucier - Reflexology for Trauma & Addiction
DESCRIPTION:The Barefoot Dragonfly LLC and the Texas Reflexology Association are delighted to be hosting Chantel Lucier for a two-day workshop this Summer! \nReflexology for Trauma & Addiction (Level I)\nChantel’s 2-day reflexology workshop is comprised of three segments that utilize lecture\, demonstration\, and hands-on practice. The three segments that make up the workshop are: \n\nThe No-Mind Approach to Wellness (a philosophy and methodology to help the practitioner release the diagnosis in sessions)\nA Compassionate Intake Process (CIP) ~ holding space for client’s healing)\nReflexology Protocols (hereafter referred to as “Guides”;) for Trauma and Addiction\n\nAdopting what Chantel calls “The No-Mind Approach to Wellness” during a session helps the practitioner to release judgment and any need to control or fix the client. It also creates an opportunity for the client to release what they too may be holding onto since their diagnosis. This\, in turn\, creates a more conducive environment for the client’s healing process. In addition\, students will learn to cultivate a thorough and compassionate intake process. Because injury\, illness\, discomfort\, and disease are not always what they seem\, students will learn tools to assess and address not only the symptoms but also what may lie beneath the surface. The root cause – or what Chantel refers to as the emotional underbelly of the injury\, illness\, or disease – will be explored. This combination of releasing the dis-ease (or diagnosis)\, inhabiting a No-Mind Approach\, and providing sensitive and compassionate inquiry\, will then be coupled with Reflexology Guides to nurture the central and peripheral nervous systems\, thus addressing symptoms as well as the undercurrent of the trauma and addiction within the client. In all segments\, students will cultivate their heart space and enter what Chantel refers to as the “back body” to nurture good listening skills\, heart-centered responses\, and providing an effective session. \nAnatomy and Physiology\n\nAnatomy and physiology of the brain and the areas\, structures\, and glands that play a role in thought processes\, habitual negative thought patterns\, and dissociative and detachment disorders and tendencies.\nSpecific attention will be paid to the amygdala\, hippocampus\, hypothalamus\, thalamus\, basal ganglia\, and pituitary gland. Also\, an understanding of the role of the limbic system versus the prefrontal cortex and how to address these areas via the mini map in our own and our client’s hands and feet.\nAreas of the body that may show symptoms\, pain\, or imbalances in those who have experienced trauma and for those with active or past alcoholic or addictive behaviors.\nWhich structures\, glands\, and areas of the brain require detailed work for trauma and addiction.\nThe HPA axis and the target organs\, glands\, or systems affected by the trauma &/or addiction from a reflexology perspective.\nThe neurological system and how reflexology works via this system\, directly related to how we receive internal and external stimuli.\nReflexology Guides to address trauma and addiction and how they may vary depending on the type of trauma or addition (e.g.\, opioid\, alcohol\, nicotine\, marijuana\, or stimulants).\nSelf-care tools to use and impart to clients.\n\nStudents Will Learn\n\nReleasing our ideas of what the client needs.\nSuspending our judgment of the client or diagnosis.\nLearning how to retrieve information using a compassionate intake process.\nUnderstanding trauma\, subtle energy\, and how to create safe spaces for our clients.\nAsking the right questions to target the underbelly of the dis-ease and empowering the client to discover the answers on their own.\nAligning our energetic body to best serve our client.\nHaving a rich understanding of the nervous system and the Bodymind in order to best address a client’s concerns.\nReflexology techniques and methods.\nAnatomy and physiology of the brain.\nThe parts of the brain responsible for mood\, addictive behavior\, and emotional processing.\nReflexology guides for trauma and addiction.\nNew reflexology methods\, techniques\, and “subtle holds” for a detailed and integrative session.\n\nSCHEDULE AND HOURS DEFINED: This 16-hour\, 2-day weekend workshop will have 14 educational hours. Lunch breaks and out of classroom assignments are not included.\nREGISTRATION: This workshop is open to all levels. While some techniques are advanced\, Chantel’s approach makes the content\, methods\, and techniques easily accessible to all.\nPAYMENT: If you are a current member of ANY state reflexology association you are eligible for the “Member” rate. To qualify for this discount\, choose the member button for payment and send a copy of your current association membership to the group or association hosting the workshop.\nNCBTMB & ARCB CEs: This class is recognized by NCBTMB and ARCB. Students who attend and answer questions about the workshop are given a certificate of completion acknowledging 14 CEs.\nEarly Bird Special (before July 17\, 2024): Members $325 / Non-Members $375\nAfter July 18\, 2024: Members: $375 / Non-Members $425 \nRegistration is through Chantel’s website: https://www.chantelclucier.com/trauma–addiction.html/#austin

SUMMARY:Intermediate Reflexology Course - Level Two
DESCRIPTION:Anatomy\, Physiology\, and Pathology for the Reflexology Practitioner\nThe Intermediate Reflexology course includes two learning units – 201 and 202 – with 24 hours of lecture and 24 hours of practicum in each unit. Coursework is aimed at exploring body systems through a whole-person lens and practicums are designed to help us apply our theoretical understandings of these systems on the reflex maps of the feet. \nWhen: Monday\, November 6th 2023 – Saturday\, March 23rd 2024\nWhere: Online and in the Austin\, Texas studio\nRegister: Registration is $792 through the Student Portal\nPrerequisite: Foundations in Reflexology or equivalent 48 hour coursework \n201 Body through Endocrine Systems – 48 hours\nThis unit has six lectures covering the following topics: \n\nThe Body – Anatomy and physiology begins with an understanding of the human body in terms that are relatable and easy to understand.\nThe Integumentary System – The skin is the largest organ of the body and can give us cues as to what is going on below the surface.\nThe Skeletal System – Bones are the framework of our body house – offering support\, protection\, shape\, and movement\, as well as mineral homeostasis.\nThe Muscular System – Muscles create movement for the bones and joints of the body as well as internal organs like the digestive tract.\nThe Nervous System – The nervous system picks up on what’s happening inside and outside the body and integrates this information to form a response.\nThe Endocrine System – The chemical messaging system of the body regulates many functions ranging from how deep tonight’s sleep will be to how tall you grew.\n\nThese lectures are delivered live via Zoom and are recorded for participants who cannot make the live lesson. \nFollowing the Zoom lectures are three days of in-person practicum offered in the Austin\, Texas studio. They include: \nDay One:\n\nObserving the Feet – partnering with a classmate\, we’ll explore skin hydration and tone and general nail health\, then review the body systems reflected on the feet;\nSOAP Notes – partnering with a classmate\, we’ll practice documenting our observations;\nReflex Techniques – we’ll add a couple of techniques to our routine for the central nervous system reflexes and practice the general ~30 minute foot routine.\n\nDay Two:\n\nGait Analysis – we’ll review gait analysis and practice observing classmate’s gaits for stress cues;\nReflex Location – we’ll put our theoretical lessons into practice by mapping out the musculoskeletal system reflexes on a classmate’s foot;\nNervous & Musculoskeletal System Practice – partnering with a classmate\, we’ll practice a protocol for the nervous and musculoskeletal system reflexes.\n\nDay Three:\n\nEndocrine System Routine – partnering with a classmate\, we’ll practice working the endocrine system simultaneously on both feet;\nForty Minute Foot Routine – we’ll pull together our new techniques and create a ~40 minute enhanced foot reflexology treatment with classmates;\nAreas of Emphasis – armed with a ~40 minute enhanced routine we’ll dip our toes into session planning skills to hone in on areas that need a bit more attention than others.\n\nBy the end of Unit 201 we’ll have a roughly forty minute foot reflexology routine that can easily be expanded to a full hour. \n202 Respiratory through Reproductive Systems – 48 hours\nThere are six lectures covering the following topics: \n\nThe Respiratory System – Respiration is the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide through inhalation and exhalation.\nThe Cardiovascular System – A 6\,000+ mile network of vessels transports nutrients\, oxygen\, hormones\, and waste products like carbon dioxide and cellular waste around the body.\nThe Lymphatic and Immune System – The lymphatic and immune system is part of our body’s built in maintenance that transports fats and fat-soluble vitamins as well as providing a surveillance and defense mechanism against pathogens.\nThe Digestive System – The digestive system is designed to break down food into usable macro and micro nutrients in order to provide fuel for every cell in the body.\nThe Urinary System – Our built-in water treatment facility\, the Urinary System filters the blood and controls pH\, volume\, composition\, and pressure.\nThe Reproductive System – The reproductive system is unique in that it doesn’t come online until puberty and maintains function until midlife when menopause/manopause bring a decline or halt to proliferative processes in the gonads.\n\nThese lectures are delivered live via Zoom and are recorded for participants who cannot make the live lesson. \nFollowing the Zoom lectures are three days of in-person practicum offered in the Austin\, Texas studio. They include: \nDay One:\n\nObserving the Feet – partnering with a classmate\, we’ll explore new the new body systems we covered over lecture;\nSOAP Notes – partnering with a classmate\, we’ll practice documenting our observations;\nThoracic Routine – we’ll add to our existing chest region protocols to specifically target reflex locations for respiratory and cardiovascular systems.\nLymphatics – we’ll take some basic measurements of the feet then commence with a lymphatic routine and see if we notice changes in our classmate’s measurements;\nDigestive System Routine – this routine follows the natural flow of food from the mouth to the anus\, with accessory digestive organs;\n\nDay Two:\n\nUrinary System Routine – this routine helps the body remove liquid waste via the urinary bladder;\nReproductive System Routine – further enhancing our work from 201’s practicum routine for the endocrine system we’ll practice positioning for prenatal clients too;\n\nDay Three:\n\nSixty Minute Foot Routine – we’ll pull together our new techniques and create a ~60 minute complete foot reflexology treatment with classmates;\nAreas of Emphasis – armed with a ~60 minute complete routine we’ll practice incorporating areas of emphasis.\n\nSnack and lunch breaks are taken outdoors in the carport\, no food or drink is permitted in the studio. Participants are encouraged to bring a sack lunch and may utilize the refrigerator\, microwave\, and toaster oven in the kitchen. \nRegistration\nTo register\, visit the Intermediate Reflexology Course page on our user portal over on Practice Better. Pay the $792 tuition (in one payment or installments). You will receive a confirmation via email (check your spam folder!) and be automatically added to the course. You can use the contact form to send an email if you have questions or schedule a Student Advising via Zoom with Amy. \nRegistration is open to those who have attended our Foundations in Reflexology or  equivalent 48 hours of reflexology coursework. SUMMARY:Holistic Foot Care Workshop
DESCRIPTION:In this workshop we’re letting our feet tell us how to better care for them. Our feet are constantly communicating with the brain via specialized nerve receptors. When something is amiss we can suffer from pain\, discomfort\, changes in joints and tendons\, as well as funky skin and nail issues. \nAs a reflexologist of nearly two decades let me help you create a better relationship with your feet! We’ll work together to listen to the messages the feet are trying to communicate through movement\, pain\, tension\, and skin. Then we’ll practice with stretches and formulations that can help address some of these challenges. \nWe’ll cover: \n\nFoot Type – are you a slope\, a square\, a mountain\, or a plateau?\nGait and Stance – what stories can your feet tell you about how you walk and how you stand and sit?\nFootwear – are your shoes moving with you or against you?\nFoot Gym – what are the best stretches for your feet?\nFoot Spa – using nature’s own botanicals we’ll formulate bespoke remedies for soothing\, nurturing\, and thanking our hard-working feet.\n\nWalk away feeling inspired and your feet feeling nourished! \nWhat: Holistic Foot Care Workshop\nWhen: Saturday\, June 24th\, 10am-3pm (bring a sack lunch)\nWhere: The Barefoot Dragonfly studio at 7601 Pheasant Rock\, Austin\, TX 78729\nRegistration: $85.00\nWhy: Your feet are one of your most precious assets\, take care of them and they’ll take care of you!

SUMMARY:CE Workshop at TLC School
DESCRIPTION:This Fall I am delighted to be asked to return to The Lauterstein-Conway School of Massage to offer a continuing education class for allied health practitioners as well as the lay public interested in exploring the art and science of Reflexology in a six-hour workshop. Registration is through the TLC School at the link below. \n— \nReflexology is a gentle bodywork modality that encourages the body towards homeostasis in all physical and energetic systems. Primary benefits include deep relaxation\, improved circulation\, and an enhanced sense of well-being. This introductory workshop will provide a brief overview of reflexology’s history and theories\, foot assessment\, and techniques employed in this modality. \nStimulating the pressure points on the feet has been used to help alleviate pain and promote relaxation and healing since the time of the Egyptians. The many different pressure point systems include points on the feet\, hands\, and other areas of the body that have corresponding points in other areas.  For example\, a point on the foot corresponds to a point in the spine.  When pressure is applied to these points\, the related part of the body is affected\, relaxing tension and helping the body seek its own balance and health. \nPressure point therapies can be used with any population\, do not require a massage table\, and can be applied and are effective in a short amount of time.  They can be used as a stand alone therapy with the client fully clothed\, or incorporated into a massage.  In a massage setting\, working on the pressure point first can relax the corresponding area\, making massage techniques more effective.  In certain injuries or illnesses\, pressure point therapies can address situations often difficult for massage\, such as stimulating healing of wounds\, fractures\, burns\, endocrine imbalances\, and skin conditions.  Pressure point therapies also address emotional conditions related to chronic stress. \nRegistration: https://www.tlcmassageschool.com/continuing-education/upcoming-ce-workshops/reflexology-pressure-points-for-healing-and-relaxation/.

SUMMARY:Periods: Supporting the Reflexology Client from Menarche Through Menopause
DESCRIPTION:Reflexology shines as a wellness support tool for folks beginning\, in the middle\, or winding down their menstruating years. In the U.S. the average age of menarche is 11 and the average age of menopause is 51\, that leaves four decades between in which 500 or so menstrual cycles can occur if uninterrupted by hormone pills\, surgery\, and pregnancy. 🤯 \nIn this four-hour Zoom presentation\, we’ll explore the anatomy\, physiology\, and pathology of periods. Covering important topics\, such as: \n\nThe body’s timetable to effect change following a treatment;\nSpecial considerations for puberty and menopause;\nReflexes to emphasize in each phase of the uterine and ovarian cycles;\nWorking alongside contraceptives\, and hormone therapy;\nTreatment planning for challenging case studies;\nLifestyle factors to support reflexology work between sessions.\n\nThis is an elective class for students of reflexology or practicing reflexologists who would like to refresh their A&P and find inspiration for treatment plans. \nAdvance registration is $15 through the user portal here: https://barefootdragonfly.practicebetter.io/#/5dc354e42a9c240c20a005b4/bookings?c=62b3881fd1223c9368d891a9.
