SUMMARY:Speaker at Moonflower Festival
DESCRIPTION:I am honored to be teaching at this year’s Moonflower Festival – a delightful event for plant lovers! I will be giving a hands-on demonstration of the process of distilling aromatic plants using my beloved glass still. See the picture below for a special discount to register for this not-to-be-missed event held in Zilker Park. \nMany Central Texas botanicals lend themselves to distillation\, from invasives like mimosa and honeysuckle\, to culinary herbs like rosemary and oregano\, to our local Juniperus species. Clinical Aromatherapist and Aromatic Medicine Practitioner Amy Kreydin will demonstrate the process of distillation using a clear\, pyrex glass still so participants can see each phase of distillation. Botanical formulators use hydrosols in cosmetics to hydrate\, nourish\, and tone the integumentary system. As botanical allies hydrosols can be incorporated into wellness plans to support mind\, body\, and spirit through oral\, dermal\, and inhaled applications. In the kitchen\, hydrosols enhance the taste and aroma of food and beverages. Explore how this type of botanical extraction can enhance your personal self-care routine as well as your botanical practice on multiple levels! \n \n  \n

SUMMARY:Speaker at Spa in Me Retreat
DESCRIPTION:I’m honored to be teaching at this year’s Spa in Me Retreat\, hosted by the lovely Sandra Foreman\, a leader in women’s self-care wellness coaching out at the beautiful McKinney Roughs Nature Park. This retreat is all about building your self-care toolkit and refilling your cup amongst like-minded\, hard-working women. \nFor my portion of the retreat I’m leading a hands-on class on formulating aromatherapeutic shower fizzies – a tool I use in wellness plans for my clients to unwind from a hectic day or set the right tone at the start of your day. I chose this activity because it gets our creative juices flowing\, we get a little messy – don’t worry\, I’m bringing gloves! – and everyone walks away with a wellness tool they can whip up for themselves and their loved ones year-round. \nSandra interviewed me recently in her podcast show about this event and you can find the recording on Apple\, Spotify\, and Stitcher.
